Depression therapist in Calgary — find your footing again.

Depression can dim your joy, drain energy, and quietly shrink what feels possible. Therapy is a place to slowly turn those things around.

Soft light through a window

Do you feel heavy with despair, struggling each day to keep your head just above the darkness and dread? Does it take every ounce of energy to stay afloat? If this sounds familiar, please know you are not alone — and there is help.

While it may seem difficult to find your way back to hope, we've been helping clients do exactly that for years: to feel warm sunshine on their face again, reconnect with people they love, and re-engage with a meaningful life. Just like other chronic illnesses, depression is not your fault — and effective treatments exist to ease and eliminate the struggles you're facing.

We use evidence-based approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and individual counselling in Calgary and virtual virtually across Alberta, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

We work with the layers — biology, thinking patterns, relationships, meaning — and move at a pace that respects how heavy things may feel right now. You don't have to be in crisis to come; sometimes therapy is what helps you notice you're already healing.

Start with a free 15-minute consultation to talk through what you're experiencing and whether depression therapy feels like the right next step.

Does this sound like you?

You might recognise some of these.

“I'm too tired to try.”
“I don't want to leave home.”
“I don't care anymore.”
“Why am I always crying?”
“I don't even know who I am anymore.”
“I wish I wasn't here.”

  • Quieten harsh, hopeless self-talk
  • Understand what’s underneath the low mood
  • Build small, doable routines that lift the fog
  • Feel more like yourself, one step at a time

What to expect

Your first steps, gently.

  1. 1

You don’t need to be in crisis to come — and you don’t need the energy to have it all figured out. After a free 15-minute consultation, your first session is simply a place to talk about how heavy things feel and what you’d like to be different.

  2. 2

Depression therapy works with the layers — biology, thinking patterns, relationships and meaning. Early on we focus on small, doable steps that help lift the fog, then explore the deeper patterns keeping you stuck, at a pace that respects how tired you may feel.

  3. 3

Sessions are usually weekly to begin with. We move gently, celebrate small wins, and adjust as your energy and mood shift.

If you'd like to take the first step to feeling better, book a free 15-minute consultation or schedule an appointment.

Good to know

Questions people often ask.

Is what I’m feeling really depression, or just a rough patch?
You don’t need a diagnosis to reach out. If low mood, exhaustion or loss of interest have lingered and are affecting daily life, therapy can help — whether it’s clinical depression or a heavy season you’re trying to move through.
Do I need medication?
Not necessarily. Many people improve with therapy alone; for others, medication (prescribed by a physician) can help alongside therapy. It’s your choice, and we’re happy to work in whichever way suits you.
What if I don’t have the energy for therapy?
That’s a common part of depression, and we plan for it. Sessions move at your pace, and early steps are intentionally small and manageable — sometimes just showing up is the win we build from.
Can we meet virtually?
Yes — in person at Southport SW in Calgary or virtually across Alberta, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
