What to expect

Your first steps, gently.

  1. 1

We start with a free 15-minute consultation, then an initial session where we get to know your anxiety — when it shows up, how it feels in your body, and where it’s getting in the way. There’s no pressure to have it all figured out.

  2. 2

Anxiety therapy is practical and collaborative. Early on we build skills you can use right away to settle your nervous system, then we work on the thinking patterns and avoidance that keep anxiety going. Over time, situations that once felt impossible start to feel manageable.

  3. 3

Sessions are usually weekly to begin with, then spaced out as your tools take hold. Many people notice small shifts early and steadier change over a series of sessions.

Good to know

Questions people often ask.

What’s the difference between normal stress and anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious sometimes. It becomes something therapy can help with when the worry is persistent, feels hard to control, shows up in your body, or starts to narrow your life — avoiding people, places or opportunities you’d otherwise want.
Do I need medication for anxiety?
Not necessarily. Many people manage anxiety well with therapy alone. Medication can be helpful for some — that’s a conversation for your physician, and therapy works well alongside it if you choose that route.
How soon will I feel better?
Many people leave early sessions with practical tools they can use straight away, and notice steadier change over a series of sessions. We’ll set goals together and check in on progress regularly.
Is anxiety therapy available online?
Yes — in person at our Southport SW office in Calgary and virtually across Alberta, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
